When a fluid flow in a straight line with the least amount of flow restriction is required, gate valves are utilised. Gate valves stop, restrict, or allow full passage of fluids via the valve by using a sliding plate inside the valve body. Typically, the gate has a wedge shape. The gate is completely drawn into the valve bonnet when the valve is fully opened. As a result, there are no flow limits and the flow passage via the valve is totally open.
